New Developments in Wembley, London, Greater London, England

The first official record of the name 'Wembley' dates back to a time when Saxon communities inhabited what is now known as Middlesex, named for the Middle Saxons. The area was home to a family whose residence was called 'Wemba lea,' meaning Wemba's clearing in the forest. By the year 1500, much of the surrounding forest had been cleared, giving way to fields bordered by hedges. The most notable development in the area is Wembley Park.
