A £13.5 million development on 62 Paul Street is coming to life as the scaffolding is removed this week, reports contractor Murphy.
Murphy is working on the mixed development, which has been ten years in the making, will meet the needs of local Hackney residents by providing a cultural outlet, much needed housing and modern commercial spaces all in one place.
Murphy project manager, Donal Nevin, commented: “Having seen the team put their heart and soul into this project over the last couple of years, as we start to see it all come together it certainly is a great structure.. The building itself is stunning, and credit to the team on site and to our architect, Stiff and Trevillion, for creating this space.”
The construction of the project began almost two years ago and is now in its final stretch with completion expected in just a few months.
There are several fascinating elements to this project including a Grade II listed façade that has been preserved and integrated into the new development.
The rooftop also features a ‘green roof’, which has been proven to provide a host of environmental benefits including filtering pollutants and creating further insulation to the building, reducing heating requirements and costs in winter.
The bespoke brickwork framing the development comes from Denmark and, coupled with floor-to-ceiling windows, the building’s eye-catching architecture has now become a reality.
