Brookhill Estate
Key Details
Overview
Brookhill Estate regeneration by Royal Borough of Greenwich in Woolwich, London SE18.
The 80 houses on the estate will be replaced by six buildings, each with a communal garden. 254 new homes will be provided in a mix of flats, maisonettes and houses, 49% of which will be affordable.
Designed by architect Levitt Bernstein, Brookhill is transformed into a high-quality neighbourhood designed around generous open spaces, including a central landscaped ‘green spine’ – a pedestrian route linking the new neighbourhood with the surrounding area.
The layout has been designed to create safer streets and encourage active travel, and there will be 1,885m2 of play areas across the estate.
The houses will be at the heart of the estate, to reinforce the existing character of Brookhill and provide a series of new mews-style streets.
History
The Brookhill Estate housing estate was opened in 1974. The site was once used as the Royal Artillery Barracks in the mid-Victorian era.
