Agar Grove
Key Details
Overview
Agar Grove is the redevelopment of the Agar Grove Estate in Camden, London NW1.
It was the largest Passivhaus scheme in the country when it started in 2018. Passivhaus certification means the new buildings use significantly less energy to heat and cool, lowering carbon emissions and helping tackle fuel poverty.
The development creates 507 new homes in total, communal gardens, new play areas, shops, a café and a community hall in six phases.
New blocks are built before the demolition of the old ones from the 1960s so that residents only need to move only once. The plans for the estate have been designed by a group of three leading architectural practices including Hawkins\Brown, Mae architects, and Grant Associates landscape architects.
The first Phase 1a reached completion in 2018 and families from the estate moved into the first 38 new council homes in the summer of 2018.
