Marble Arch Hill is a temporary visitor attraction in Marble Arch, London W1.
The 25m high viewing platform allows visitors a unique opportunity to look out over the area from a new perspective as the council and its partners start to transform the area.
The construction cost of the mound is £1.99m.
The new Marble Arch Hill temporary visitor attraction will enhance the historic Marble Arch, bringing the beauty and tranquillity of Hyde Park a little closer to neighbouring Oxford Street. The attraction will be enjoyed by up to 200,000 people whilst it is operational, subject to whatever Covid restrictions remain at the time.
The inside of the mountain makes it safe and healthy for people to enjoy the area as they are protected from air pollution, traffic and noise
there will be ongoing social benefits.
Once dismantled, the trees and landscape will be relocated to other parts of Westminster and the local community.
History
2021 February - Planning application submitted for the temporary installation of a viewing platform, landscaping, walkway and staircase, and other associated works, at Marble Arch for a temporary period of six months. Architect: MVRD. Planning application ref. no 21/01005/COFUL.
