Overview

The Columbia Hotel was originally five large Victorian town houses. Professional people, merchants and aristocracy occupied the houses with their families and servants. With large rooms, balconies and contemporary decorative features, the houses were highly valued by the rich and successful. During World War I one of the houses was an American Red Cross Hospital, and after the war the five houses became The Palace Hotel, then The Columbia Club. Renamed The Columbia Hotel in 1975, a continuous programme of renovation and improvement aims to offer modern day requirements, whilst retaining the character of the original Victorian-buildings.

The hotel has an elegant lounge, bar and a large breakfast room. The reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day. At the front desk guests may obtain 24 hour laundry/dry cleaning service, taxis, security for their valuables, free overnight luggage storage, newspapers, maps of the city, brochures for sightseeing tours and leading attractions. The hotel lounge and bar are free wireless broadband hotspots for hotel guests' laptop computers.

Conference Rooms

The Columbia Hotel has four spacious suites for Business Meetings, Conferences, Seminars and Receptions.

The Windsor Suite is the largest, with a separate reception area and will seat 150 Theatre Style, 80 Classroom Style, and accommodate up to 150 for buffet Receptions. The Viceroy & Regency Suites are identical, and can be used independently, or joined together as one unit. Each will seat 70 Theatre Style. All three suites are on the first floor with wide balconies overlooking Kensington Gardens. The Lancaster Suite on the hotel ground floor has a large mahogany table to seat up to 28 people, and a comfortable lounge area, making it ideal for Boardroom style meetings.

The first floor Conference Suites are wireless broadband hot-spots for hotel guests' laptop computers.

Full catering and equipment services can be provided, and detailed Hotel Conference and Function brochure, floor plans, specimen menus, tariffs and delegate rates are available on request.
